“The Media Center” Announced: Historic Orange Landmark to Become State-of-the-Art Live-Work-Grow Hub
ORANGE, VA — A transformation is coming to the heart of the Orange Commercial Historic District. Today, developers unveiled plans for “The Media Center” an ambitious adaptive reuse project located at 113 West Main Street. The former 1920s bank building will be reimagined as a 13,000-square-foot ecosystem integrating digital media, high-end hospitality, and innovative urban agriculture.
The three-story landmark (plus basement) is set to undergo a comprehensive renovation designed to catalyze economic growth and bring a modern “circular economy” to downtown Orange.

A Vertical Vision for Downtown
The project features a unique “floor-by-floor” strategy designed to serve the community’s evolving needs:

The Ground Floor | Media & Social Hub: This level will house the City Press Club Bistro, a premier destination for local professionals and food enthusiasts. Sharing the floor is the new G1NBC TV Station, a digital broadcast center that will provide the town with a dedicated media platform, bringing local stories to a global audience.

The Second Floor | The Exchange: Catering to the region’s growing remote-work force, the second floor will be converted into high-end coworking spaces and executive suites, providing a professional alternative to the home office.

The Third Floor | Downtown Living: To address the demand for walkable housing, the top floor will feature three luxury apartments, offering modern amenities within a historic architectural shell.

The Basement | The Root Cellar: In one of the project’s most innovative moves, the basement will be converted into a hydroponic urban farm. Using controlled-environment technology, the farm will produce high-value microgreens, herbs, and leafy greens.

From Basement to Bistro
The Media Center is designed around a sustainable supply chain. The produce grown in the basement will be harvested daily to supply the City Press Club Bistro, ensuring “Zero-Mile” freshness for diners. Excess yields will be packaged and sold to the open market, providing local grocery stores and residents with year-round access to fresh, pesticide-free Piedmont produce.

Preserving History, Building the Future
”This project is about more than just renovating a building; it’s about creating a self-sustaining engine for Orange,” says Joseph Malik, Lead Developer. “By combining media, agriculture, and housing, we are ensuring this historic bank remains as vital to the community today as it was 100 years ago.”

The renovation will utilize Virginia and Federal Historic Tax Credits, ensuring that the building’s 1925 Neo-Classical facade and historic character are meticulously preserved while meeting 21st-century energy and technology standards.

Construction is slated to begin in [Fall 2026].

About G1NBC: G1NBC is a global digital broadcast network focused on community-centric news and entertainment. The Orange, VA station will serve as a regional hub for the Piedmont area.

About the City Press Club: The City Press Club is a membership-based social and professional bistro designed to bridge the gap between media, business, and fine dining.
